Greetings from KrystalKeep! It's only once every four years we get to send you something on the 29th of February (unless of course, the year is evenly divisible by 100 and NOT evenly divisible by 400... but that's a mere technicality!!) So, for your reading pleasure, here is our first Leap Year Newsletter!
Flames of War Winter Offensive (a Qualifier Tournament). All told there were 40 players who took part in the 3-round tournament. Things went incredibly smoothly, due in no small part to the wonderful work done by Jeff Hobson and Andrew Wehener. We want to give huge thanks for all the work the two of them did while running the tournament, as well as an extra round of applause to all of the various volunteers who helped with donating tables and terrain, setup, break-down, and just overall support. The general consensus was that it was a huge success and that more such Flames of War events will be seen in the not too distant future.
Now let's jump forward a bit, to the end of the month of March. On the weekend of March 29th we will be hosting the Spring Marauder's Mayhem Warhammer Fantasy IndyGT Tournament. This is shaping up to be an event to rival the size of the recently run Flames of War Winter Offensive, and the word is that spaces in it are filling up very quickly. More details, and a link to the official site of the Marauder's Mayhem, can be found below, in the Events section of the newsletter. Suffice it to say, if you're a fan of Warhammer Fantasy Battles, this is one tournament you don't want to miss!
So what's the buzz in the here and now? Lately, it's been all about some of the more recently released games. Topping the list have been such offerings as INFINITY the Game, AT-43, Battleground, and the brand-spanking new Confrontation: The Age of the Rag'Narok. Not to be outdone, some well-established games have also put out some fun new releases: the Harad book (and miniatures to go along with it) for Lord of the Rings, the new Vampire Counts Spearhead for Warhammer Fantasy Battles, Pokemon: Diamond and Pearl: Great Encounters (along with the new EX Tins and the ultra-shiny new Spring Tins), Monty's Meatgrinder for Flames of War, a whole new set of expansion decks for the Runebound board game... the list goes on for quite a while, and it's all good stuff! The best part is that there are all sorts of exciting new releases on the horizon! We're constantly scouring as many sources as we can for the things that are the latest and the greatest, so if there's something out there that you'd like to get your hands on, don't hesitate to contact us.
We have WEGS! "What's WEGS?", you may ask. It's the Wickedly Errant Game System. That clears it all up, right? Right? No? It's an "old school sword-n-sorcery rpg that revels in the 'let's get a game together tonight' mentality." (that straight from their web site, by the way). We're one of five brick-and-mortar locations to carry the game, and we have the game designer himself coming in from out of town to run a couple of awesome demo games. See our Events section for more details!
As the saying goes, we've saved the best for last! With the advent of Spring also comes the opening of the very first season of leagues at KrystalKeep. We'll run the Spring Leagues for 6 weeks, with a big get-together planned at the end, to crown the winners and have a load of fun (and food). We're accepting proposals, now, for games to be run in the league cycle, so if there's a game you'd love to see, step forward and let your voice be heard. The plan is for the first week of league play to start on the last day of March (Monday, the 31st), but things can start sooner if everyone gets their information in and are ready to roll before then.
